“Project ID 25345 AI SKILLS: Innovative engineering-assisted design platform, knowledge capitalization, technical and operational training, and lifelong learning”
Fifth BI-REX Call for Proposals
Project start date: 30/04/2025 – Project end date: 30/04/2026
DESCRIPTION
The AI SKILLS project aims to develop an integrated platform that will revolutionize engineering design processes, technical and lifelong training, and knowledge capitalization. It leverages advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR), and CAE optimization. The platform will provide a multichannel and collaborative environment, mainly desktop-based, designed to structure and strengthen traditional processes of design, technical training, knowledge capitalization, and lifelong learning. An immersive virtual channel will be integrated to deliver modular sections of technical and operational training without the need for physical assets, enabling remote and collaborative participation.
OBJECTIVES
- Create a collaborative multichannel environment to strengthen traditional design processes.
- Provide modular technical and operational training remotely, without physical assets.
- Support the product development process from concept to maintenance.
- Accelerate pre-sales and qualify concrete projects through intelligent interfaces.
IMPACT
- Reduction of waste, errors, costs, and design and production times.
- Improvement of process and product quality.
- Standardization of KBE methodologies.
- Gradual industrial adoption through pilot testing phases and commercialization.

“Space Power and powder Enabling Solutions”
Project No. F/230008/02/X48
Grant Decree No. 3964 of 11-12-2023
Project start date: 15/06/2020 – Project end date: 31/07/2024
DESCRIPTION
The SPES project aims to develop innovative space technologies to strengthen competitiveness, enhance European independence, and promote terrestrial applications based on space technologies. In particular, it focuses on control electronics, solar arrays, efficient and low-cost energy generation, and the development of powders for additive manufacturing.
The proposal consists of a single Research and Development project aimed at advanced solutions to be integrated into the Ital-GovSatCom satellite system, with industrial research and experimental development activities carried out in collaboration among several companies:
- PlatForm Distribution and Interface Unit
- Components for Innovative Solar Arrays
- Development of high-performance Al-based alloy powders
For the “Innovative Solar Array” theme, the design, manufacturing, and thermo-mechanical validation of a new solar generator are foreseen, characterized by:
- High surface-to-volume ratio
- High power-to-mass ratio (W/kg)
- Competitive cost
- Modularity and scalability
- Ease of satellite integration
Efficient and compact solar arrays are essential for the operation of satellite systems and foster the expansion of the telecommunications and Earth monitoring market.
The main activities carried out include:
1. Analysis and component development
2. Construction, assembly, integration, and testing
